@dorothydayisbased all of the bigger Catholic subreddits are ban-happy, which is essentially what I have been complaining about lately.
I don’t know if it was apparent in that Imgur thread I made, but r/Catholicism was coming up with new rules on the spot in order to justify taking down my posts. It was pretty bizarre where they would say I broke the rules, then I assented to their rules, and then they just made up more rules that apparently I broke. It was rather obvious to me that they were just trying to silence me, while giving themselves plausible deniability that they were only enforcing rules (and if you check out their sub people post articles and videos from other Catholic writers all the time. And those stay up. Only mine get taken down).
And r/TrueCatholicPolitics was all about my articles for months, until I joined their stupid Discord server, promoted my stuff, and then immediately got banned from the server and the admin informed me that he would ban me from the subreddit and ban anyone who posts my articles there.
r/Catholic just shadowbanned me, but they are known to be run by progressives (same with virtually all the Christian subreddits as well. r/Christianity is literally run by anti-Christian atheists).
At least the admin of r/CatholicPhilosophy was honest with me about the fact that he just hated all my articles because I didn’t write them in an academic way, and that was why he eventually banned me.
I see why most of my real life friends refuse to post on Reddit. It really is the case that Reddit groups are run by jerks on a power-trip!
I post on Facebook groups and other social media outlets, and the majority of Catholic groups are friendly and appreciative of my contributions.
It’s pretty much Reddit that’s toxic.
And it sometimes gets to me and makes me act petty, which I hate.
The only reason why I continue to use Reddit is that I have such a large audience of non-mods on several groups that REALLY appreciate the value I bring with my articles.
If you go through my posting history in all these larger Catholic subreddits I have been banned from, you will see all of my article posts have TONS more upvotes than downvotes — this is because the majority of the people in these groups liked my articles.
But moderators don’t care about whether their group members like the value being brought to the group… They only seem to care about power and control.
It’s really sickening!
